Reinterpreting everyday life through imagination and creativity
I remember my first day at the Tapada da Tojeira organic olive oil farm in the Portuguese countryside. As it happened, it was also home to CENTA, an arts residency programme focusing on contemporary dance and art projects. It was a place of unusual encounters, with a very open and unassuming institutional profile. It was an imperfectly perfect scenario. There was also a flock of sheep, some shepherd dogs, and the unique local workers, Carlos and Isaura, who I miss. During my time there, I created several pieces of work while living with the farm owner, Luís Coutinho, and his family. This was the context.
ACTION. While working there, either assisting residencies or helping with olive oil production, several ideas for works came to mind, while others were forgotten. Some of these projects have come to light, created under the circumstances of everyday life, using local and available materials and resources.
